BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Businesses cannot stand still; either they grow or they shrink.  If they shrink, eventually they die.  The key then is to keep them growing all the time.  If the owner elects not to grow the business in size - revenues - he must at least drive it to grow in other areas; i.e., technology, capabilities, financial posture.  The key to being successful is to recognize and manage changes and growth to ensure long-term profitability.  V&A Management, LLC provides a wide range of consulting services to help companies flourish and avoid problems.

Business Wellness Diagnostics:

How well is your business performing in its various functional areas?  We use a simple process in the form of a questionnaire that the CEO/owner completes, to identify how well a business is performing and what are the areas where more attention should be placed.  We extend this analysis to the management team to compare their perspective with the CEO’s, and to have the ability to work on the differences that we undoubtedly will find.

Organization Alignment:

In “Good to Great“ Jim Collins teaches that a business must have the right people “in the bus” and everyone in the “right seats”.  This is extremely critical for all businesses and particularly for small businesses where resources are limited.  How is your bus populated? From identifying the needs, to recruiting the right “passengers”, to making sure they occupy the right positions, and to developing the parameters of performance, we can be your partner to ensure your organization is what it needs to be.

Key Performance Indicators:

What are the key indicators that drive the business?  You must develop key performance indicators (KPIs) that are operational, as well as financial, to help you manage your business.  KPIs are results that can be measured, and that represent actual performance of the business. They should include financial metrics such as revenue forecasts and expenses, but also specific operational or even behavioral measurements that your employees have control over, and thus, you can hold them accountable.  Discussing the various key performance indicators and the impacts they have on the company in your weekly staff meetings are a great way to get your employees involved and thinking like business owners.

Strategic Planning:

It is not unusual for small companies to operate without a strategic plan.  This equates to going on a trip without planning the route you will take.  A strategic plan helps companies identify their short-term, intermediate, and long-term goals and focus on what they need to do to achieve them.  Strategic planning is a process that begins with communication and identification of goals and needs, and results in a documented plan that is then continuously reviewed, acted upon, and revised as appropriate.  We can walk you through the entire process and help you develop and implement your strategic and tactical plans.

Systematizing the Business:

What are the most important business processes of your company?  An organization must be developed to support the processes; not the other way around.  For a business to stay dynamic, its business processes must be continuously reviewed and reengineered as needed.  We can help you identify and understand your critical business processes, and then optimize them through streamlining or reengineering.

Driving Change:

"If you do what you've always done, you get what you've always gotten".  Your business changes to stay alive. Its vitality depends on growth and the changes that come with it. Sometimes you just get used to doing things a certain way because that is the way they have always been done.  You need the ability to analyze your business plan and operations without pre-conceived notions or biases; only someone not immersed in your daily activities can do that.  We can help identify the symptoms or causes of issues that need immediate attention, and those that just need validating.  We can assist you with integrating change management into your strategic plan, and overcome organizational resistance to change.

Financial Analysis:

We use sophisticated software to convert hard-to-understand financial numbers into plain language in order to help our clients understand financial information. We perform comprehensive financial analysis, including financial projections and analytical procedures, without infringing in our client’s time. The software also gives us the ability to do “what ifs” analysis and even estimated valuation of the business.  Finally, our customers benefit from the in-depth private company financial data they contribute.
